Mandarin Oriental Unveils Plans for Second Dubai Property

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is all set to open a second hotel in Dubai. Situated on Sheikh Zayed Road within the 63-floor mixed use Wasl Tower development, the downtown property will boats of 257 hotel rooms situated across floors 16 to 38 of the tower, and a further 144 residences on the upper floors of the building.

Scheduled to open in 2020, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will join the Mandarin Oriental Jumeirah Beach, which is itself currently under construction and due to open in late 2018. Amenities of the hotel will include a rooftop sky bar, all-day dining restaurant, signature dining experience, poolside bar and restaurant, lobby lounge, cigar room, Mandarin oriental Cake Shop, and extensive banqueting and meeting spaces.

The other amenities also includes two-floor spa, with 12 treatment rooms, vitality pools, fitness centre, heat and water therapies, and an outdoor pool within a landscaped garden terrace. The 300-metre high Wasl Tower will have direct access to nearby attractions such as Burj Park, Dubai Opera, and Dubai Mall.

RSG, Rotana Ink Deal for New Hotel in Dubai

An ace property developer based in the UAE – RSG International has signed a second management agreement with the popular hospitality group Rotana for a new lavish four-star hotel in Dubai.

Located on Sheikh Zayed Road, Jebel Ali Central, next to UAE Exchange Metro Station, the new property consists of 54 floors; 533-room Sabah Rotana includes 210 spacious, well-appointed rooms along with 10 executive suites and two ultra-luxurious presidential suites. Meanwhile, the hotel apartments include 260 one-bedroom and 52 two-bedroom apartments. Sabah Rotana also features a striking array of food and beverage venues and world-class business and recreational facilities.

In total, the new hotel in Dubai boasts of 10 extravagantly appointed executive suites and 180 spacious rooms, in addition to 300 hotel apartments, along with 40 studio apartments, 240 one bedroom apartments and 20 two bedroom apartments.

A new report says, Dubai is the only city in the Middle East to occupy in the list of top 10 global cities with maximum number hotel rooms. The Emirate acquired fifth place on the top 10 list with 100,000 hotel roomsand London stood last in the list with 90,000 rooms. These figures are collated from a knowledge-sharing platform-Quora.

Dubai ranked fifth position with Chicago, New York, Washington DC and Bangkok.Also, Dubai is expected to complete more hotels ahead of 2020 as Dubai will host the World Expo 2020 between October 2020 and April 2021 which brings more than 25 million of audience from more than 180 nations.

Dubai Hotels remains top in MENA Survey

Dubai's hospitality market remains a top performer in the Middle East and North Africa in January. Dubai hotels have recorded the strong occupancy rates of over 87.6 percent and highest RevPAR of $246 in January, which is the highest extreme level in the Middle East and North Africa.

According to new data, hotels in Dubai have continued to slide down in room rates and revenues. The average room rate and RevPAR slips 8.1 percent and 7.3 percent respectively in January. EY's January 2017 MENA Hotel Benchmark Survey shows Dubai beach hotels have registered highest RevPAR of $343 and city-based hotels in Dubai got the highest occupancy at 87.6 percent.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai Hotels Sees Decline in Room Rates in January

Hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi announced a subdued performance in January 2017 when compared to the last year. According to the reports, the hotels seen an overall average daily rates (ADR) dropped by 8 percent.

Abu Dhabi hotels posted a 1.5 per cent decline while Dubai hotels reported almost flat performance. However, the smaller markets outside the city centers were received a good result in the beginning of the year. Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah hotels has recorded higher occupancy levels, showing an increase by 10.1 per cent and 5.5 per cent, respectively, while in Fujairah occupancy rates increased by 7.2 per cent. The overall occupancy levels in the UAE increased marginally by 0.5 per cent to 81.1 per cent.

Dubai & Abu Dhabi Hotels RevPAR Rates Falls in 2016

According to the survey conducted by a consultancy firm EY, Abu Dhabi and Dubai were among the hardest hit in a general slowdown experienced by Middle East hotel markets in 2016. Abu Dhabi Hotel’s revenue per available room (RevPAR) decreased by 15.1 per cent in Abu Dhabi from $147 in 2015 to $125 in 2016. There was also a 7.7 per cent fall in Dubai from $268 to $247 and a 2.4 per cent dip in Ras Al Khaimah from $166 to $162.

However, increased visa travel from China due to a change in the visa policy boosted the market in the last three months of the year. The reports reveal that the Dubai hotels’ occupancy remained stable at 80 per cent and 1 per cent decrease in Abu Dhabi Hotels to 77 per cent and increased 7.2 per cent in Ras Al Khaimah to 72.1 per cent.

During 2016, Dubai had the highest RevPAR at $200, followed by Jeddah at $196. In terms of occupancy, Dubai again led at 80 per cent, followed by RAK with 72.1 per cent while Makkah and Jeddah had the highest average daily rates of $287 and $277 respectively.

Rezidor set to Launch two New Brand Dubai Hotels

One of the fastest growing hotel companies in the world - The Rezidor Hotel Group has recently signed two new Radisson Blu hotels in International Media Production Zone (IMPZ) and Dubai Studio City, UAE.

The new signings made in partnership with the ace Dubai-based Bin Haider Group follow Rezidor’s recent announcement that it will launch 14 new hotels in the UAE by 2019, and part of expansion plans to consist of 100 hotels and 20,000 rooms in operation by 2020, across the Middle East.

The two new Radisson Blu Dubai hotels are set to open in two upcoming media zones in Dubai, designed to support corporate travelers and media professionals visiting and working in the Emirates.

The new Dubai Hotel - Radisson Blu will consists of 356 rooms and it will be launched in the mid of 2019. The brand’s new Blu Print design scheme and facilities include two restaurants, a bar and significant meeting facilities to support the free zone’s businesses. The hotel in Dubai will have 290 rooms, restaurants, meeting and events facilities, and a nightclub. The hotel also is scheduled to open its doors in 2019.

Central hotels Expands its Footprints in Dubai

Central Hotels to implement its expansion plans in Dubai by launching three new hotels in 2017. By launching new hotels in Dubai will increase the existing 524 rooms to 1,220. The new projects are categorized four-stars and are set to open at two iconic locations - The Palm and Business Bay. Two hotels will be opened in The Palm featuring 208 and 204 rooms each while the remaining one project-Bay Central will be situated at The Burj Khalifa. Bay Central will have 284 keys and is expected to open in the third quarter of 2017. In addition to the existing plan of launching Dubai hotels, the Central Hotels is aiming to add five more hotels to its portfolio by 2018.

MENA hotels revenue drops in 2016

According to the Middle East Hotel Benchmark Survey Report, MENA hotels have witnessed a decline in revenue in 2016 when compared to 2015. Dubai hotels had the highest occupancy of 80% across MENA and recorded the highest RevPAR in 2016 while Makkah has accounted the highest ADR across MENA for 2016. One of the reasons behind the decline in RevPAR was supply outpacing demand of the hotel rooms in the hospitality field. Also, there is a drop in Dubai tourists due to the decrease in the value of Euro and Russian Ruble and the raise in US dollar. However, during the last three of 2016, Dubai has received more tourists from China.
