Amritsar is a largest city in the state of Punjab, India. While entering in to the temple, visitors must cover their head with a cloth (scarves). ‘Ghanta Ghar’ is the entrance of the temple, where you will have to wash your feet in the water. Entering in to the temple, you will see the Amrit Sarovar, which is a colossal water pool for visitors and devotees to bathe in (as per the Sikh tradition, sins will be cleaned by getting bathe in this water & there is a separate sections for men and women). Akal Takht and Central Sikh Museum are also located inside the temple, where you can explore the religion and temple history. You can listen to the Sikh’s sacred book ‘Adi Granth’ scriptures that narrate out loud during the day time.

Jallianwala Bagh is another place to visit in Amritsar. This memorial is located nearby the Golden Temple. During the Indian Independence Movement, unarmed men, women and children were gathered at Jallianwala Bagh for a political meeting. At that time, British Indian Army opened fire at the crowd, which left 1579 die (including children), and 1100 with severe wounds. There was a memorial built by the Indian Government, in order to commemorate the victims.

Mata Temple, Ram Tirth, Wagha Border, and Summer Palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh are the nearby attractions in the city.

It offers Punjabi style shoes, called ‘Juthis’, Warian (spicy pulses ground with spices), Phulkaari (an embroidery made of flowers) and numerous souvenirs.
