Varanasi is an ancient city, located in northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The city is also called as Banaras, Benares, and Kashi. Hindu kings have built these ghats and palaces beside the river to pay their offerings and traditional ceremonies at the holy River. Most of the palaces are now being used as hotels by pilgrims, who are on their final days. It would be difficult to explore all ghats by foot, hence it is better to rent a boat and visit all of them from the river. Its Eastern bank of the river is having the reserved area and protected by the Government of India. Panchganga Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat, Dasaswamedh Ghat, Rana Ghat, Kedar Ghat, Narad Ghat, Harishchandra Ghat, Hanuman Ghat, Shivala Ghat, Tulsi Ghat, and Assi Ghat are the popular and important ghats in the stretch. Conversely, there are numerous oldest religious buildings and temples including, Alamagir Mosque, Durga Temple, Gauri Matha Temple, Kaal Bhairav Temple, Nepali Hindu Temple, Shri Kashi Vishwanth Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple, Sarnath, and Tulsi Manas Temple.
