Old Town of AlUla

AlUla Old Town, one of Saudi Arabia's most spectacular heritage sites, is a part of contemporary AlUla. The fact that it was formerly inhabited is one of the factors contributing to its ability to arouse such strong feelings of emotion. The AlUla Valley's narrowest section is where this town is situated. The Musa bin Nusayr Castle, a castle that dates back to roughly the 10th century, towers over the town.

The Old Town of AlUla, which has almost 900 dwellings, 400 businesses, and five town squares, still has parts of the ancient stone and mudbrick structures built here.

AlUla Old Town became a crucial stop on the pilgrimage route from Damascus to Makkah in the 12th century. From the 12th to the 20th century, where the current AlUla is currently built, the city progressively superseded Qurh to the south of AlUla. These are the reasons why it is well-remembered by travelers. Early residents of the city may have placed high importance on defense because the houses were built to be fortified by one another.

Fourteen gates once served as the city's entrance, and they were opened each morning to welcome travelers, pilgrims, and other visitors before being shut each night.
